Human cardiomyocytes iPS

The human cardiomyocytes are named Cor.4U. The cells have been generated from an iPS line with a caucasian background. The suffix indicates whether a transgene as reporter is used (GFP) or not (colorless). The de-differentiation was carried out according to the protocols described by Yamanaka et al..

Cor.4U^® cardiomyocytes are in vitro differentiated human iPS derived cardiomyocytes as verified by morphology, immunostaining for cardiac-specific proteins as well as gene analysis. They reproduce an authentic human cardiac cellular environment of fully functional cardiomyocytes, including all necessary ion channel subunits. When seeded on MEAs, they form a synchronously beating monolayer after approx. 24h of culture. Cor4U^® cardiomyocytes seeded on MEAs can be kept in culture for several weeks, allowing for long-term experiments (e.g. chronic effects of compounds).

Cor.4U cardiomyocytes used for Mel.Cor services are tested for their ability to react to known modulators of cardiac physiology, e.g. ion channel modulators or ß-adrenergic stimuli.
